Rain didn’t dampen villagers' big show

2:55pm Wednesday 13th August 2008

LOCALS turned out in force last weekend to support the Little Hereford village fete.

More than 300 people defied the weather to make this year's show a near-record breaker.

The event at Easton Court saw all the usual attractions, from a grand draw and raffle to bric-a-brac and a dog show.

A penalty competition attracted young footballers, while there were plenty of food stalls for hungry parents.

Bill Thomas, one of the organisers, counted proceeds of £3,900 by Monday, close to last year's record £4,094.

"We've had a few people tell us what a lovely fete it was," said Mr Thomas, "Considering the weather we had in the morning we did quite well to get such a good crowd."
