Tenbury fight back for a deserved point after falling two goals behind

Bilston 3 Tenbury United 3.

AFTER conceding two early goals, Tenbury fought back well and, in the end, deserved more than the single West Midlands League Division 2 point they gained against title-chasing opponents.

Tenbury found themselves facing an uphill battle when the home team stormed into a two-goal lead inside the first 15 minutes.

They fell behind when a home forward blocked an attempted clearance and the ball finished up in the back of the net. There was no luck about the second goal, though, a centre-half heading home from a corner without being challenged.

Tenbury rallied after this setback and settled down to play the better football. They restricted the home side to long shots and always looked dangerous at the other end.

Tenbury scored either side of the break to get back on level terms. Stuart Wilson stabbed the ball home, when Bilston failed to clear a corner, for his first goal of the season.

Minutes after the restart, Mike Foster got his head to an Aaron Morris free-kick to beat the advancing keeper.

United were well on top at this stage. Foster had an effort ruled out for offside but there was no problem when Ryan Morris ran through from midfield to fire them in front.

The home side equalised when they stabbed the ball home following a long throw-in. Tenbury had the ball in the net again, Aaron Morris scoring from the rebound after the home keeper had saved Grant Harris's initial shot, but the officials controversially disallowed the goal for offside.

Alex Bright made a great save to preserve the point.
